Library Late Returns

Book/Audio Visual Materials

  • 1 day overdue – courtesy notice email to return the item
  • 8 days overdue – second courtesy notice email to return the item
  • 30 days overdue – flat rate replacement charge of $75
    • Charges can be appealed by contacting olcirc@nwmissouri.edu; replacement costs will be determined by the library
  • Damaged items - items returned with repairable damage will be assessed a repair fee. Items returned in a condition beyond repair will be charged a $75 replacement fee.

Use My Library Account to view due dates and renew items.

It is the responsibility of the patron to:

  1. know the due dates of borrowed items
  2. return items on time
  3. return them in the original condition
  4. to pay all charges incurred for late return of items borrowed.
Claims for items returned or billed can be made at the Library Services Desk. We will send you the results of your claim within 5 working days (Monday-Friday) of receipt of the appeal form. If at that time you wish to make a further appeal, you may make an appointment by calling (660) 562-1192 or sending an e-mail to olcirc@nwmissouri.edu.

Equipment

  • 1 day overdue – courtesy notice email to return the item
  • 2 days overdue – bill notice generated and bill sent to student account for item replacement (replacement fee based on value of the equipment)
  • Damaged items - equipment returned with repairable damage will be assessed the replacement parts fee. Equipment returned in a condition beyond repair will be charged the replacement value.

Reserves

Due to high demand and limited quantity, replacement charges are applied to library patron accounts two days after due date.

  • 1 day overdue – courtesy notice email to return the item
  • 2 days overdue – charge for replacing items added to library patron account: includes a replacement fee based on the value of the item
  • Damaged items
    • Reserve items returned with repairable damage will be assessed the replacement parts/repair fee only.

MOBIUS

  • 1 day overdue – courtesy notice email to return the item
  • 8 days overdue – second courtesy notice email to return the item
  • 30 days overdue – charge for replacing item(s)
  • Damaged items - the lending library determines fees for repairable damage. Items returned in a condition beyond repair will be charged the cost to replace the item(s).
