Welcome to Service & Engagement!

Service & Engagement serves both the University and the Maryville community as the main source for volunteer opportunities, the benefit of academic endeavors, and service goals of community agencies. Volunteer programs at Northwest are beneficial to the development of students and to the improvement of the surrounding communities. We offer a wide range of programs that help students become engaged in the community and provide a valuable experience to apply to post-college careers.

Upcoming Service Opportunities!

Bearcat Service Day

  • This service opportunity will include the maintenance and/or removal of flower beds around the cabins on the campground, as well as general landscaping needs in the area. It is Wednesday, April 23rd from 3-7pm. This service event is open to all students, but may be especially valuable to major programs including Recreation, Environmental Science, etc. Students may come and go as needed to accommodate their schedule. Sign up here for Bearcat Service Days

Camp Quality

  • Camp Quality, NWMO offers a week-long summer camp for kids with cancer (ages 5-17) at no cost to families. The camp is July 20-25 in Excelsior Springs. Volunteers are paired 1:1 with campers and engage in activities like crafts, swimming, fishing, canoeing, dances, and bonfires. The program is looking for volunteers to help provide a fun and supportive environment. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these kids. For more information, contact Trisha Shonk, Camper Coordinator, trisha.shonk@campqualityusa.org.

If you know of any upcoming service opportunities for students or would like student volunteers for your organization or event, please reach out to the Office of Student Involvement at 660-562-1226, or by emailing osi@nwmissouri.edu
