Welcome to the Northwest Missouri State University chapter of NAƒME, National Association for Music Education, chapter 198. Chapter meetings are held biweekly to discuss business. Once a month a professional development night is held where a guest speaker covers a specialized aspect of music education. Some areas that have been addressed are interview strategies, classroom management, student teaching, and world music.
Our chapter of NAƒME provides services to our university and surrounding communities. One of these services is a Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest. The goal of this festival is to give an opportunity to middle school students in our area so that they may gain performance experience in front of adjudicators, peers, and parents. NAfME chapter 198 also helps local schools maintain their equipment and music organization by traveling and helping where it is needed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, NAƒME at Northwest also provided remote private lessons and promoted the national "Music in Our Schools Month" to regional music educators.
One of our NAfME chapter's biggest events is attending the annual Missouri Music Educators Association conference in Osage Beach, Missouri. Here, members listen to performances and participate in professional development sessions that provide invaluable and unforgettable insight and experience. This upcoming conference will take place from January 28-February 1, 2025. More information can be found through the link below!
Meetings occur bi-weekly at 5:45pm in Fine Arts Room 200.
