PaperCut & Requesting Printer Access

What is PaperCut?

PaperCut is a print service that efficiently manages print devices by increasing security, efficiency, saving money and reducing waste.  PaperCut allows departmental billing of printing by using FOAPs (budget accounts).  Print or copy jobs will automatically charge to the departmental FOAP selected, rather than the employee's personal account.

What is a FOAP?

FOAP stands for Fund, Organization, Account and Program.  A FOAP works as an accounting block used for budgeting, record-keeping and reporting throughout a department.  FOAPs allow for easy billing of the correct budget within a department and reduce the need for reimbursement.

How do I get access to PaperCut or Northwest HP printers/copiers?

Employees must be granted access to the NWFollowMe HP printers/copiers and departmental billing.  Access to these amenities is granted by the Northwest Technology Service Center (NTSC).  To request access:

  • The budget custodian of the deaprtment must email helpdesk@nwmissouri.edu with the following information.
    • The name(s), username(s) and 919#(s) of any employee needing access.
    • The FOAP number(s) the employee(s) need access to.

After these steps have been taken, access will be granted soon by the NTSC team.  The budget custodian will receive correspondence when their request has been processed.

Note:  No employee can request their own access.  If in doubt, have a supervisor complete the request.

How can student employees gain access to PaperCut and Northwest HP printers/copiers for work purposes?

Student employees can also be granted access to the NWFollowMe HP printers/copiers using FOAPs.  To request access:

  • The budget custodian of the department must email helpdesk@nwmissouri.edu with the following information.
    • The name(s), username(s) and 919#(s) of any student work or graduate assistant needing access.
    • The FOAP number(s) the student(s) needs access to.
Note:  Access for student workers and graduate assistants is automatically removed at the end of each semester.  A new request must be submitted each semester that a student worker or graduate assistant needs continued access for work purposes.
