Our Honors Program is for high-achieving, academically-focused students. Consider applying if you would like to be part of a select group of students who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom and who are motivated to expand their leadership skills and capacity for personal and academic growth. Honors students will have special access to selected campus-wide events, early registration for classes, opportunities for research projects and service-learning activities, close relationships with some of our most distinguished faculty and so much more.
Connect with faculty in designated Honors classes with limited enrollment and high-ability students. Learn to develop critical thinking skills, engage in advanced classroom discussion and enjoy innovative approaches to the subject material. Interact with other Honors students at our monthly social and intellectual engagement activities. Advance your future with Honors scholarships for study abroad, internships, and research.
To be considered for admission into the Honors Program, an entering student must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.50, but we recommend a 3.75 GPA. We also welcome applications from current Northwest students and transfer students with a minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.50.
The Honors Program provides motivated and talented students with an enriched educational experience. Through limited class size and close interactions with faculty, the program provides talented students with a deeper understanding of content and an opportunity to develop critical thinking and discussion skills that prepare them for a dynamic world. In the Honors Program, a commitment to learning is combined with a spirit of inquiry and a critical understanding of the responsibilities of global citizenship. By bringing together the ideas from diverse traditions of knowledge, the Honors Program helps prepare creative and innovative leaders to meet emerging challenges in our global community.
