Requirements of a Peer Educator
PEER EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Attend 80% of the meetings.
All training, retreats, etc. are mandatory.
Must maintain 2.5 GPA.
Peer Educators are:
On good standing with the university.
Leaders in promoting health/wellness on our campus and community.
A role-model for our peers.
Dedicated, passionate, non-judgmental, and open minded.
Team players working together towards a common goal.
Value and know my role as a peer educator
Grant individuals with respect and dignity.
Strive to understand diversity in all its forms.
Value and know my role as a caring helper
Offer opportunities for people to explore thoughts and feelings.
Offer myself as a link between students and professional services on campus.
Maintain confidentiality.
Value and know my role as an educator
Learn as much as possible about the issues that affect my peers.
Complete my commitments (staff meetings, program requirements, training).
Value and know my role as an individual
Understand that my primary responsibility is to myself.
Value and know my role as a role model
Make decisions in my own life that are positive and healthy.
Challenge myself to continue my own physical, mental, and emotional growth.
Value and know my role as a contributing group member
Work together on awareness events and group presentation opportunities.
Perform community service to help make my community a better place to live.
