We separate the UBMS participants into "families" so that each person has a place to "belong." This family structure assists the participants in getting to know the other family members extremely well and allows them to interact meaningfully. This structure also enables us to have a staff member very much aware of how the participant is adjusting to the "new" environment and provide assistance or advice as needed.
The Bridge students each were in UBMS in summer 2009 and graduated from high school in the Spring of 2010. Through UBMS Bridge, they are able to take up to 6 college credits (paid for by UBMS) as the start to their college careers.
