The Northwest Missouri State University community will devote 1,905 minutes again this spring to raising support for the institution and its ability to provide an affordable, quality education for students.

The University, founded in 1905, and the Northwest Foundation are organizing the fifth annual Bearcat Day of Green event, April 2-3. The fundraising event encourages alumni, employees, students, parents and friends to support various initiatives on campus through their financial gifts.

The Bearcat Day of Green is an effort to get Bearcats of all backgrounds to come together and encourage donations and gifts to the University to promote the longevity of Northwest.

The event invites Northwest supporters to champion the programs and initiatives for which they care most.

“Whatever people are passionate about, that’s what they can make Bearcat Day of Green about,” Dixon said.

Northwest alumni and friends already are actively raising awareness for the event, which is designed to secure funds for causes that will impact the lives of current students. Northwest is encouraging “challenge gifts” with the goal of matching or beating last year’s donation total of over $100,000.

All individuals and organizations are invited to participate by visiting https://dayofgreen.nwmissouri.edu/ anytime between 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, and 4:45 p.m. Thursday, April 3.

Participants in Bearcat Day of Green may choose to give to areas such as academic excellence, scholarships and Bearcat athletics. Gifts may also be designated to specific initiatives such as Bearcats Helping Bearcats, KXCV-KRNW radio and student life.

Additionally, donors also may choose to give to the Northwest Fund, an unrestricted fund that supports the University’s most significant needs.

During the Bearcat Day of Green, donors have the option to make one-time gifts to Northwest. Donors’ individual contributions also can help “unlock” additional challenge gifts to University initiatives based on a predetermined number of donations or giving amounts.

Throughout the event, participants may follow the giving campaign’s progress on Northwest Alumni Association social media channels at Facebook, X and Instagram. Participants may promote and raise awareness about the event as ambassadors.
