Tower yearbook selected to appear in national showcase

May 14, 2024

Northwest Missouri State University’s 2023 Tower yearbook will be included in Varsity Yearbook’s Portfolio, showcasing the dedication and talent of students and staff producing outstanding yearbooks.

With a total of 612 schools represented, Volume 29 of Portfolio is a testament to the innovation and excellence found within school yearbooks printed by Varsity Yearbook – formerly Herff Jones – throughout the nation. Of the represented schools, 1,744 examples were carefully curated, and 77 books were chosen for the coveted Anthology section, including honorable mentions.

This is the 15th consecutive year that Tower has been selected for Portfolio and the 25th selection overall. In March, the Associated Collegiate Press awarded the 2023 Tower a Pacemaker Award, crowning it one of the year’s best college yearbooks for the third consecutive year.

“It’s a testament to Northwest’s continued support of student journalism and our students’ continued passion and determination that we have sustained such excellence in yearbooks for so long,” Steven Chappell, the director of student publications at Northwest and Tower’s adviser, said.

The chosen yearbooks are characterized by their consistency in both verbal and visual elements, exemplary coverage and top-notch photography. Portfolio represents the top 1 percent of books printed by Varsity Yearbook.

Varsity Yearbook, a division of Varsity Spirit, is dedicated to providing schools with high-quality yearbooks, training and support through each step of the yearbook journey.
