Northwest Missouri State University capped its 2023 Homecoming with an awards ceremony Oct. 25 to announce winners of competitions throughout the annual celebration.
Northwest hosted its Homecoming week, “Welcome to the ‘Ville,” Oct. 15-21 with a variety of activities, including traditions such as the Variety Show, the annual International Flag-Raising Ceremony, the Homecoming parade and the Homecoming football game. The University also welcomed the class of 1973 for its annual 50-year reunion activities.
During the annual Variety Show, Darren Ross and Obioma Nwuba were crowned Northwest’s Homecoming king and queen. Ross, of St. Louis, is a senior computer science major; Nwuba, of Anambra State, Nigeria, is a junior early childhood education major.
As a result of Northwest’s annual Donation Creation contest, during which students build Homecoming-themed scenes with canned and boxed food items, student organizations donated 1,157 pounds of food to the Maryville Ministry Center and 482 pounds of food to the Bearcat Food Pantry.
Northwest’s 2023 Homecoming Executive Board consisted of Anna Musser, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Gower, Missouri; Nicole Dietzenbach, a senior digital media: visual imaging major from Des Moines, Iowa; Abby Linhart, a senior public accounting major from Cameron, Missouri; Riley Steele, a sophomore psychology major from Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Blake Leasure, a senior biology education major from Keytesville, Missouri.
