Northwest Missouri State University capped its 2022 Homecoming Oct. 26 with an awards ceremony announcing winners of competitions throughout the annual celebration.
Northwest hosted its Homecoming week, “Bearcats Got Game,” Oct. 16-22, with a variety of activities, including traditions such as the Variety Show, the annual International Flag-Raising Ceremony, the Homecoming parade and the Homecoming football game. The University also welcomed the class of 1972 for its annual 50-year reunion activities.
During Thursday’s Variety Show, Foster Huggins and Hadley Douglas were crowned Northwest’s Homecoming king and queen. Huggins, of Kansas City, Missouri, is a senior physical education major. Douglas, of St. Joseph, Missouri, is a senior human services major.
As a result of Northwest’s annual Homecoming canned art contest, student organizations donated 1,610 pounds of food to the Maryville Ministry Center and 1,684 items to the Bearcat Food Pantry.
Northwest’s 2022 Homecoming Executive Board consisted of Faith Thompson, a graduate student working toward a master’s degree in school counseling from Omaha, Nebraska; Sydney Looney, a senior early childhood education major from Omaha, Nebraska; Jacob Maclean, a senior agronomy major with a horticulture emphasis from Troy, Missouri; Aimee Ferry, a junior psychology major from Perry, Missouri; and Ciara Mattson, a junior biopsychology major from Kansas City, Missouri.
