As Northwest Missouri State University concludes its 2021-22 academic year and transitions to its summer programming, Facility Services will begin several improvement projects and asks the campus community to beware of closures that may impact students, employees and visitors.

Information about some of the most visible projects, beginning Monday, May 9, on the Maryville campus is provided below. For additional projects, visit www.nwmissouri.edu/services/facility/university-projects.htm.

Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building: The Fine Arts building will undergo updates, including acoustical upgrades, ADA upgrades in the Charles Johnson Theater, new art display panels, and a renovation of the Olive DeLuce Art Gallery. As a result, the building will be closed to the general public May 9 through mid-August.

Water tower: The campus water tower will undergo repairs and upgrades through Friday, June 3, pending weather. As a result, Lot 38 west of Garrett-Strong Science Building and the adjacent walking bridge will be closed.

Student Recreation Center: The Student Recreation Center will be closed to replace ceiling liner through Wednesday, June 1.

Bearcat Stadium: The Bearcat Stadium west grandstand will be closed until August for the installation of a new staircase.

Radial feed upgrades: The campus radial electrical feed from Garrett-Strong to the high-rise residence halls will be offline for electrical upgrades between Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 27.

Central Plant steam shutdown: The Central Plant will be shut down between Monday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 31, for repairs and annual maintenance in the plant and steam tunnels.

Martindale Hall: Renovations to the third floor of Martindale Hall will begin in June, and the third floor will be offline through spring 2023.

Streets and parking lots: Several streets, parking lots and sidewalks on the campus will be repaired during the summer months. Employees, students and visitors should beware of temporary closures while driving, parking and walking on the campus.

Northwest appreciates the campus community’s patience and understanding during campus improvements. For more information, contact Facility Services at 660.562.1183.
