Northwest Missouri State University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion is now accepting registrations for the next cohort of its Social Justice Institute, which begins in August.
The cohort-based institute, which is open to all Northwest employees, is designed to help participants engage in authentic dialogue about campus climate, inclusive pedagogy and learning about individual identity as it relates to power, privilege and oppression while analyzing how identity affects decision-making.
The Social Justice Institute involves one two-hour course meeting per month. Participants also are expected to attend events and activities sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion as well as the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences’ Occupy Valk lecture series.
Interested individuals should register before Monday, April 25, at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5CNSX8H. Up to 20 people will be accepted to the fall cohort.
“This is a great opportunity, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, with partnership from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, is excited for this institute,” Dr. Justin Mallett, Northwest assistant vice president of diversity and inclusion, said.
