The Horace Mann Library is available for Horace Mann students and parents; and Northwest faculty, staff, and students. It is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is closed on days when school is not in session.
Currently, students in grades Kindergarten through Sixth will have one 30-minute library skills session and one 30-minute checkout time per week.

1st/2nd Grade | 2 books or magazines for 1 week |
3rd/4th Grade | 4 books or magazines for 2 weeks |
5th/6th Grade | 4 books or magazines for 2 weeks |
Adults | Any number of books for 2 weeks |
*Books can be renewed. It is not imperative that the student bring the book with them to renew.

The Reading Circle program is provided by the Missouri State Teacher's Association for all Missouri students. Children can read books of any length and genre of their choice with the hope they will have exposure to both fiction and nonfiction titles.
To earn a Reading Circle Certificate at the end of the school year:
This award is designed to encourage families to read aloud to children from birth through Kindergarten.

The purpose of the Show Me Readers Award is to promote literature, literacy, and reading in Missouri elementary schools for grades one through three and to promote recognition of authors and illustrators of books that are favorites of Missouri children in these grades.

The purpose of the Mark Twain Award is to provide children of Missouri with a recommended reading list of literature that will enrich their lives.
