SCEC helps persons interested in special education become more involved with students who have special needs. Besides activities with children, SCEC also has a political action network, which organizes letter-writing campaigns to legislators who are shaping educational issues.
KIDS is similar to a Big Brother/Big Sister program. College students are paired with children in the community and give them one-on-one attention. The college students and children have picnics and skating parties.
SMSTA is aligned with the state organization, MSTA. The members attend conventions and network with teachers and other college students. SMSTA provides a forum for educational issues and a way to meet other education majors and teaching professionals.
KDP is an honorary fraternity for men and women who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and leadership in education.
IRA is composed of students who work to promote literacy. They do several service projects each semester. Last year, they collected books for the Salvation Army and read to students in the Horace Mann after school program.
ATA is comprised of Agriculture Education Majors heading towards the goal of teaching agriculture either through secondary education or adult education. Each month there are at least two meetings that are held to discuss business of the chapter and listen to speakers from the Agriculture Education field. At Northwest Missouri State, the ATA is always busy with meetings, FFA-CDE Contests, Highway Clean Up, Homecoming participation and many more activities throughout the year.
