Imani Jones

Northwest students are Career Ready. Day One.

Growing up where crime rates are high, I was exposed to a lot of things and had a lot of questions. I knew I wanted to become more educated about something that was happening right in front of me, so I went to school to get answers.

The Northwest Experience

Imani Jones initially came to Northwest to not only appease her parents but was recruited to run track. She quickly found lifelong friends and gained experiences in the classroom to ensure she is ready for a successful career.

When she arrived to campus from St. Louis, Imani planned to be first member of her immediate family to earn a college degree. She found that being a student took a lot of strength and determination, and learned to balance school with being involved in student organizations and student life.

As a criminology major, one of her favorite courses was Police and Society, where she had the opportunity to ride along with a police officer and ask questions.

Imani recommends that incoming students get involved in campus organizations and take advantage of the hands-on experiences offered at Northwest. These experiences coupled with networking opportunities helped Imani graduate ready to further her education in graduate school where she is studying criminal justice administration.
