Would you like to pursue a fully-funded Master's program, a research degree, or a second undergraduate degree at the prestigious University of Oxford in the United Kingdom? If yes, you should apply for the Rhodes Scholarship.
Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest international scholarship program that offers outstanding students from around the world with the opportunity to study at the University of Oxford. Each year, 32 American students are selected as Rhodes Scholars through an intensive application process. All 32 Rhodes Scholars receive full financial support to pursue a degree or degrees at Oxford. Successful candidates are not only selected for their outstanding literary and scholastic attainments, but for their character and commitment to others and the greater good, and for their potential to become a leader in their intended career field.
To apply, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Your application includes official transcripts, a list of your college activities, a headshot, endorsement from Northwest, 5-8 letters of recommendation, and a personal statement not exceeding 1,000 words that describe the applicant's academic and other interests and explain the specific areas of proposed study and the reasons for wishing to study at Oxford. Selection committees will place special emphasis on the personal statement and it may be forwarded to oxford colleges to which Rodes Scholars-elect apply for admission.

Lia Petrose graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017 with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Economics with a minor in Chemistry. She has a vision of improving how data is used to facilitate health care delivery. Lia wrote three papers in leading medical journals and is currently a research assistant for Dr. Heidi Williams at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As an undergraduate, she was elected to the executive board of the student government and served as the student member of the Board of Trustees Committee on Academic Affairs. Lia will study for a B.A. in Computer Science and Philosophy at Oxford
