Owens Library Freshman Seminar Curriculum

New Students will become familiar with Owens Library and it's policies and locations by reviewing the handout, entitled, "Where Learners & Resources Meet @ Owens Library," and by looking at the library maps online, in addition to the tour that was provided during Advantage. If you have problems, call extension 1639 or e-mail
Patricia J. Wyatt for assistance. There are several assignments/activities for students to learn more about the library. Some choices are having students:

• answer the library assignment questions after attending the Owens Library tours during Advantage Week and reviewing the handout

  
  Students should save this document to the desktop of their computer. When the assignment is complete, email or submit it to an eCompanion dropbox designated by their instructor.
  

• complete the B.D. Owens Library Virtual Library Game
• create their own Flip Video tours of the library. Contact Lori Mardis (562-1393) for details about this activity and to schedule this guided exercise.
• complete the Career assignment which is designed to help students find out which career fits their personality and strengths using TypeFocus. It will also teach them how to use Occupational Outlook Handbook to research an occupation.
